چکیده

The Prêt à Voter election system has undergone several revisions and enhancements since its inception in 2004, resulting in a family of election systems designed to provide end-to-end verifiability and a high degree of transparency while ensuring secrecy of the ballot. Assurance for these systems arises from the auditability of the election itself, rather than the need to place trust in the system components. This paper brings together the variations of Prêt à Voter, presents their design, describes the voter experience, and considers the security properties that they provide.

End-to-end veriable voting with Prêt à Voter

Transparent and verifiable elections can be achieved by end-to-end verifiable electronic voting systems. The purpose of such systems is to enable voters to verify the inclusion of their vote in the final tally while keeping the votes secret. Achieving verifiability and secrecy at the same time is hard and this thesis explores the properties of verifiable electronic voting systems and describes ...

Assessing the usability of open verifiable e-voting systems: a trial with the system Prêt à Voter

E-voting systems – the combination of vote-casting, ballot transmission and counting, auditing and monitoring systems – have been gaining much attention from the international community as a suitable solution for preventing errors issued from human reliability on vote counting. Whilst many reports have said about currently available pilots and proposals are sensible, some fundamental issues rem...

Prêt à Voter: All-In-One

A number of voter-verifiable electronic voting schemes have been introduced in the recent decades. These schemes not only provide each voter with a receipt without the threat of coercion and ballot selling, but also the ballot tallying phase can be publicly verified. Furthermore, these schemes are robust because the power of authorities can be threshold distributed. Generally speaking, the homo...

A Case Study in System-Based Analysis: The ThreeBallot Voting System and Prêt à Voter

Threat analysis of voting systems is a field of increasing interest. While it is important to verify the system itself, it has been found that certain vulnerabilities only become apparent when taking a “systembased” view, i.e. considering interactions between the various components of a scheme. In this paper we apply a model for system-based analysis to carry out a systematic threat analysis of...

Tear and Destroy: Chain voting and destruction problems shared by Prêt à Voter and Punchscan and a solution using Visual Encryption

Prêt à Voter and Punchscan are two electronic voting schemes that both use paper based ballot forms, part of which is detached and destroyed, to provide receipt-free voter verifiability. However, both schemes share the chain voting problem and the part destruction problem. The first is where anyone who can see the ballot form before it is used can coerce a voter who uses it and the latter where...
